ABIM(Joh L.Esposito-Ibrahim Moosa)

Saya membaca bahagian Summary of the Open Debate:Report by John L.Esposito, buku 'Rethinking Islam and Modernity:Essays in Honour of Fathi Osman''(edited by AbdelWahab El-Affendi) yg baru dibeli(guna baucer buku).Terkejut bila baca muka surat 144 jumpa kenyataan tentang ABIM. Profesor John L. Esposito kata :- ''It seems to me that the theme of the conference is most appropriate,Islam and Modernity. For,as was said yesterday by Fathi Osman,ABIM and Ennahda represent, from my point of view, organizations or movements par excellence who have grappled with the question of the relationship of Islam to Modernity. The founders of the organizations, and the current leaders embody this approach, and we have seen that already in some of the presentations that have occurred, for example Shaikh Rashid’s presentation yesterday…’’ Dan,Profesor Dr Ibrahim Moosa dalam muka surat 155 bab yg sama pula berkata:- ‘’Sometimes one keeps quiet in the interest of politeness or decorum, but I believe,as someone said, evil flourishes when good people do nothing. That continues in the vein of what Tamara Sonn has said, dictatorship of the mind, and the whole question of rethinking and critical thinking in Islamic thought. There is a lot of dictatorship of the mind because,I think, intellectual critiques are not taking place.Movements like Ennahda or ABIM might want to start the re-thinking.But the mainstream Islamist thinking, including the modern Islamist paradigm,is not engaged in real re-thinking...’’
